Product Description
Product Overview
The Raspberry Pi RP2040 mini is a microcontroller developed by Raspberry Pi. It's the first microcontroller designed in-house by Raspberry Pi, featuring a dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ processor running at 133MHz, 264kB of SRAM, and support for up to 16MB of off-chip Flash memory via a dedicated QSPI bus
Key features
- Dual ARM Cortex-M0+ Processors: Running at 133MHz, these provide a good balance of performance and efficiency.
- 264kB On-Chip SRAM: This is divided into six independent banks, providing ample memory for most applications.
- External Memory Support: The RP2040 supports up to 16MB of off-chip Flash memory via a dedicated QSPI bus.
- DMA Controller: Facilitates faster data transfers without loading the CPU.
- AHB Crossbar: Allows multiple masters to access peripherals simultaneously without conflict.
- Programmable LDO: The on-chip LDO can generate core voltage, which can be adjusted for different power requirements.
Specifications
-
Dual ARM Cortex-M0+ CPUs: Operating at 133MHz, these provide the processing power for the microcontroller.
-
264kB On-Chip SRAM: This is split into six independent banks, providing fast access to frequently used data.
-
Up to 16MB Off-Chip Flash Memory: Supported via a dedicated QSPI bus, allowing for larger programs and data storage.
-
DMA Controller: Facilitates faster data transfer between peripherals and memory without CPU involvement.
-
Fully Connected AHB Crossbar: Allows high-performance communication between the CPU, memory, and peripherals.
Applications

Maker or Hobbyist Projects: The RP2040 is great for home security systems, interactive devices, and various DIY projects that require a mix of digital and analog inputs/outputs.
-
Machine Learning: With its dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ processors, the RP2040 is suitable for TinyML (Tiny Machine Learning) applications. It can run machine learning models for tasks like image classification and gesture recognition using TensorFlow Lite and Edge Impulse.
-
Audio Projects: RP2040 has been used in building audio equipment like oscilloscopes and microphones, taking advantage of its ability to handle analog signals and process data efficiently.
-
IoT Devices: Internet of Things applications, such as smart home devices, environmental monitoring systems, and industrial sensors, benefit from the RP2040's low power consumption and wireless connectivity options through add-on modules or boards.
-
Wearables: Due to its small form factor and low power requirements, the RP2040 is ideal for wearable technology, like smartwatches and fitness trackers
Notes
• When connecting to an external power source, use a 7-12V DC power supply to ensure the board operates correctly.
• When uploading programs, ensure the correct board type (Arduino Mega2560) and port are selected to avoid upload failure.
